Getting started
How do I get ZeroNote?
Buy it once on the App Store for iPhone and iPad or on Google Play for Android. It’s a one-time purchase: no subscription and no in-app purchases.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26.0 or later, and Android devices through Google Play. The Google Play listing shows whether your device is compatible.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, email, phone number or profile. Open the app and start writing.
Does ZeroNote need the internet?
No. ZeroNote doesn’t request network permission, so it can’t send or receive data over any network. It works the same in Airplane Mode. You can confirm this in the app permissions on its store listings.
Writing and organizing
How do I format a note?
Type Markdown, or use the formatting bar right above the keyboard. It has buttons for headings (H1, H2), bold, italic, checklists and bulleted and numbered lists.
# Headingand## Subheading**bold**and*italic*- [ ] taskfor a checklist- three backticks for a code block
How do I switch between editing and the formatted view?
Use the preview (eye) button in an open note. One tap shows the formatted note, another tap takes you back to editing.
How do I organize notes?
Add tags such as Work or Personal to a note, and star the notes you need most. Starred notes appear in their own section at the top, and the filters above your list show All, Starred or Untagged notes.
How do I find a note?
Use the search field at the top of your notes list. Search runs entirely on your device.
Can I share a note with another app?
Yes, you can copy or share a note when you choose to. Once you send it to another app, that app’s own privacy policy applies to what you sent.
Lock and security
How are my notes protected?
Everything you write is stored only in the app’s private storage on your device, encrypted. Only your passcode opens it. We never receive a copy of your notes.
Can I unlock with Face ID or my fingerprint?
Yes, ZeroNote supports biometric unlock such as Face ID, fingerprint or face unlock. Your device checks your biometrics locally; ZeroNote only receives a pass or fail result and never sees your biometric data.
I forgot my passcode. Can you reset it?
No, and nobody else can either. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, a forgotten passcode can’t be reset and the notes can’t be recovered. This is what keeps your notes private.
Can ZeroNote leak my notes?
The app has no internet permission, no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs that collect data, so there is no channel for your notes to leave the device. Apple’s App Privacy label and Google Play’s Data safety section both state that no data is collected.
Backups, devices and your data
Are my notes backed up to iCloud or Google?
No. Your notes are not included in automatic iOS or Android cloud backups, so they never end up on someone else’s server.
Do my notes sync between my phone and tablet?
No. ZeroNote has no cloud and no sync. Each device keeps its own notes.
What happens if I lose my phone or delete the app?
Your notes exist only on that device. If the device is lost or the app is deleted, the notes are gone, and we can’t restore them because we never had them. If a note matters to you, keep a copy somewhere you trust.
How do I move to a new phone?
There is no automatic transfer, because ZeroNote never sends your notes anywhere. If you need a note on another device, copy or share it yourself before switching.
How do I delete my data?
Delete any note inside the app. To remove everything permanently, uninstall ZeroNote or clear its storage in your device settings. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
Purchase and refunds
Why is ZeroNote a paid app?
Free apps pay their bills with your data. ZeroNote costs a one-time price, so it answers to only one person: you.
Are there subscriptions or in-app purchases?
No. You pay once before installing. The app itself never handles payments.
Can my family use my purchase?
On the App Store, ZeroNote supports Family Sharing: up to six family members can use the app with Family Sharing turned on.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple and Google, and we never see your payment details. Request a refund through Apple or Google Play under their policies.
